Hello and welcome back to Raleigh's brain. I am flattered that you were sufficiently entertained by the previous insights into my thoughts that you would grace my gray matter with another visit. Thank you for swinging by.
Todays topic iiiisssss... obsession.
I like to be obsessed every once in a while. my current obsession is wiemaraners ( not a brand of hot dog but rather a real dog) and search and rescue operations. Before this i was rather obsessed with buying a truck. you can ask my room mates. I would literally spend all my spare time checking craigslist for trucks, and i would check every 15 min for new posts. I would like to note that my obsessions are limited to objects and activities, and there fore do not include people. at least not in a particular sense. there have been times when i was obsessed with girls in general. another time i was very intrigued by cowboys types and country music. but i can honestly say that i have never obsessed over just one person. that doesnt mean i dont have crushes or fall in love. what it means is i have a leash on my obsessive behaviors and indulge olny when it is harmless. which brings me to my next point.
Harmless indulgence of obsessive behavior. i like it. its kinda fun. it makes me feel all passionate about something, and i believe its healthy to feel passionate about something, even if it is a truck . An important part of keeping your obsessions in check is regulating how much money you invest. I have to remind myself often that i have other better things waiting for me to obsess about later, and therefore i should save my money. perhaps what i call obsessing is called by other people focusing. Porter (my room mate) stated that these days we tend to have conversations that are a mile wide and an inch deep. My 'obsessions' might not be obsessions at all, but rather a superior brain working on something that is a mile deep, and olny an inch or so wide. i guess that becomes a problem when you do it consistently.
In the end i dont give a shnoodles kaboodle. I enjoy getting all worked up about certain things and its much better then not getting worked up. So lets live our lifes today! Embrace your obsessions, and penetrate your philosophical world as to see it a mile deep.
on another note i'd like to share an experience i had today. i have a freind. we shall call her K. it was K's Bday today, so i took her to cupcake royale. after buying the cupcakes and hot chocolate i realized that this would be a perfect time for me to run up to bartells and buy some candles and sing her happy birthday... so i did. it was aaawesome! i even got a bum and some passerbys to join in. that was a good moment today. it was a hallmark moment, the 4 of us sitting outside cupcake royale, the wind is softly blowing cuasing the candle flames to dance as we sing a joyfull song of completion and hopes for tomorrow. K blushing and looking down, myself grinning like an idiot and singing as loud as possible, the passerbys being down right freindly while staying polite, and the bum, well he was almost as excited as i was.. he even added a sweet little (and may you have many more) at the end. Kodak moment. Oh man oh man did i enjoy those cupcakes or what!
